Sher-e-Bangla National StadiumThe Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) if required is ready to provide its stadiums to the government to be used as temporary hospital and quarantine facilities.
“Coronavirus situation in our country has not become that severe yet but if the government wants, we are ready to give Mirpur [Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium] stadium [to turn it into hospital facility],” BCB Director and Media Committee Chairman Jalal Younus told the media on Sunday (Mar 29).
“We have to fight as a nation against this coronavirus and come forward in help from their respective positions. We as BCB also have responsibilities,” he said.
Globally, a total of 142,368 infected people has also recovered from Covid-19, a pandemic announced by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Number of countries have been reported of its sports organizations coming forward with the support to the government and provide stadiums to be turned as make shift hospitals. In India, BCCI (Board for Control of Cricket in India) President Sourav Ganguly had requested West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee to use the cricket stadium facilities for the battle against Covid-19.
